West Coast Vacation Part #1

On October 14th, we left home at 4:30 a.m. to get to the airport for our 6:20 a.m. flight. We were on our way to Sacramento and then driving to Eugene to visit Liz. We had a layover in Houston and both flights were fine but boring. FMB didn't seem to mind flying and I believe he/she slept the majority of the time. We drove from Sacramento up to the 101 which is all coastal highway. We spent some time on a mountain road before that which was beautiful and then we drove through the Redwoods (in the dark and rain so we didn't see too much). We finally arrived in Eugene at 1 a.m. (which means 4 a.m. in Cincinnati--therefore, up for 24 hours, minus the short naps we took on the plane).

We spent the next day driving down the coast and Liz took us to Newport Bay and Nye Beach. We were going to go to the Sea Lion caves but when we got there the sea lions were all outside so we thought it would be silly to pay to see their cave when we had just seen them outside.

On October 16th, we drove to Vancouver, Washington and went to Fort Vancouver. We can now check Washington off of our states to go to list. We also drove to Mount Hood and Multnomah Falls, both of which were beautiful.

On Saturday the 17th, we began our drive back down to California. We stopped along the way at Crater Lake and on our way passed through lots of parks.

Although we would have liked to have been in the car a little less, the scenery the whole time has been beautiful.

I would post some pictures but it won't let me...they will come later!
