New York Days Two & Three

After an awesome night of much needed rest, we picked up the car Saturday morning. We had missed a breakfast hosted by Andrew's family but Kate texted us and said they were just heading there and there was still food left so we met them there. We were able to hang out with them for a bit and then we headed out into the city.

One thing Sean and I had always wanted to to on our previous three trips to NYC was to walk across the Brooklyn Bridge. We had tried previously but had never found where to get on the bridge (although we had ended up under it).

Sean's favorite snack!
We walked across the bridge and then went back to the hotel to find a place to have lunch. Kate had given out lists of some of their favorite places to eat. I read The Meatball Shop to Sean and he said it sounded good. Then I read the description and it said they had homemade ice cream sandwiches and Sean was sold!

We started walking up Broadway and there was a street fair so we perused the booths and I got part of my Halloween costume there. We also had some yummy chocolate covered oreos on a stick. We made it to the Meatball Shop. Sean had a hero and I had naked balls (beef with Parmesan cream sauce). It was delicious! Then we had ice cream sandwiches...Sean's was a chocolate chip and peanut butter cookie with caramel ice cream and mine was chocolate chip and Ginger cookies with apple cider ice cream...yum!

We took the subway to Central Park and spent some time just walking around.

After that, we went to Times Square. I don't know if it was because it was a Saturday night or just because it has been a few years since we've been there but it was crazy packed! We shopped a bit (at toys'r'us, Disney, and the Hershey store) then headed back to the hotel to drop off our stuff before finding somewhere to eat dinner.

We went to a place called Murphy's Pub which wasn't too far from the hotel. We packed up and went to bed.

This morning, we loaded up and the headed to Rahway, NJ to visit our 'cousin' Joe and his family. We visited with them for a bit and then started our journey back home. We both had a great time and it was nice to have some time together but we both missed the kids and are looking forward to seeing them!

Happy Birthday to Courtney!  She's on her honeymoon...what a great way to spend a birthday!
